AWC Magazine Collector’s Edition – Issue 2
ISSUE TEASER:
This one and only copy of the second published AWC Magazine is here for the window cleaning enthusiast – and in great condition!
President of Dalgord Chemical Industries, Inc. David Dale gets into “one of the biggest headaches encountered in the trade,” hard water spots. He talks about a new generation of products fighting these pesky stains. The most common cause of this problem is water overspray from automatic sprinkler systems which has damaging effects if allowed to accumulate over a prolonged period of time. XA103 Window Cleaner/Restorative is recommended for use in dissolving lime deposits, alkaline, aluminite, and atmospheric airborne pollutants. Do any of you window cleaners remember that chemical?
Rod Woodward discusses how to keep warm in the wintertime while cleaning outdoors. He notes, “when you’re so cold that you’re tempted to drink the alcohol instead of putting it in your bucket, you say ‘I should have been a carpet cleaner!'” Well, buying a pair of 3/16″ thick neoprene gloves with a textured grip will make your hands nice and warm, plus they won’t freeze to your metal equipment. Since this was written when metal poles were more popular, Rod advises cutting a 6″ piece of PVC pipe and put it on your pole so you’re not touching the metal. This article is a blast from the past, but still gives great advice.
