 About the SMC 6 Bar Rappel Rack
Easily adjust the friction on your descent with the lightweight SMC 6 Bar Rappel Rack.
This rappel rack is constructed with stainless steel and features hollow bars to keep it light for carrying. The J-frame, also known as open racks, differs from a U-frame because it allows the user to adjust friction while under load by adding or removing bars. This unique feature results in greater control of the rate of descent.
These racks are longer and equipped with 6 bars which allow for a broad variation in the amount of friction created. The top bar, which receives the most wear, is larger and constructed from stainless steel. It is equipped with a Tie-Off Bar to facilitate tie-offs or quickly add extra friction. The remaining 5 bars are machined aluminum.
This descender’s construction prevents the rope from twisting, which can occur when using a Figure 8 type descender. It has a meticulously welded eye and may be used with single or double ropes of varying diameters. It is NFPA1983 certified and made in the USA.
