AWC Magazine – Issue 126
ISSUE TEASER:
Two New York City window cleaners fell 47 stories; one to his death. This issue of the American Window Cleaner magazine opens with AWC contributor Gary Mauer reporting on the story. Mauer reports there was human error and mechanical error at play. Both window cleaners were not hooked up to their safety lines while also not being certified.
In a battle to attract and retain talent, many employers have pulled out all the stops when it comes to employee benefits. AWC contributor Anne Richter reviews employee benefits laws, what every employer is required to provide, and low-cost benefits for small businesses. Since rules can get tricky when it comes to part-time employees, Richter recommends having a lawyer.
Six window cleaners from five different countries answer questions on the differences between their homelands. Mexico, New Zealand, and Australia are among a few of the countries. Peter Howcroft of NZ laments how windy his country is and shares a picture of one of his cleaners flying through the wind while high-rise cleaning.
