AWC Magazine – Issue 113
ISSUE TEASER:
Fall-related deaths are the number two killer of workers in the private industry. Write Right Enterprises’ Drue Ann Hargis-Ramirez explores that topic in this issue of the American Window Cleaner magazine. Ramirez talks about body harness safety in terms of proper fit, wear, and selection.
A high-rise window cleaning incident in Denver, Colorado threatened the lives of two window cleaners. AWC contributor R. Bruce Gebhardt says that roof-mounted support atop the 22-story Denver Place Plaza Tower buckled and collapsed in high winds. Luckily, no one perished and the incident only resulted in a few broken bones.
Ramirez discusses liability insurance in regard to the essentials that every window cleaner should know. She cites umbrella policies, commercial general liabilities, care, custody, and control as major factors you should consider. AWC contributor Bob Lawrence gives a preview of the upcoming International Window Cleaning Association (IWCA) convention.
